Company Background
The company
is one of the leading on-line interactive services providers to the UK,
with more than 2.4 million members, including more than one million on
Broadband. Their service allows their clients to enjoy access to more
than 20 channels of online content, as well as e-mail and the Internet.
The Testing Project
The
requirement was to provide the company with offsite QA resources that
would supplement their existing QA team and reduce the costs by
providing a dedicated test lab that incorporated all platforms. The
project involved functionally testing the primary interface used by the
company to provide its existing UK customers with a portal to their
service.
Testhouse's Contribution
Testhouse
assembled a functional testing team comprising of a Test Manager and
three Manual Functional Testers. The Test Manager was responsible for
writing the Test Plan; identifying the test cases; ensuring the test
environment was available within Testhouse; monitoring the project; and
reporting back to the client. The functional testers prepared test
scripts based on the functional specifications provided by the client;
identified any test data; executed the test scripts; and reported any
bugs into the bug reporting tool.
Customer Benefits
- An effective test plan was put together by Testhouse that was reviewed by the client and signed-off.
- By using Testhouse’s testing lab all combinations of platforms and operating systems could be tested at no extra cost.
- Testing was completed on time; the interface was therefore launched on time.
- Testhouse's work required minimum quality control by the customer.

experience of carrying out similar projects offsite provided greater
confidence and resulted in added value to the testing process.
